The Story
In the Kingdom of Litharchonia, Serafina senses something impossible within the still waters of an enchanted pond. In Victorian London, Aloysius follows a prosperous mark through Whitechapel. Far out in the Atlantic, Theron waits beneath a false Spanish flag for a galleon carrying gold. In a devastated future Las Vegas, Riannon searches ruined streets for signs of life. In feudal Japan, Yukiyasu begins another morning of disciplined training beneath falling sakura petals.
They have never met. They do not share the same century, culture or understanding of the world. Yet each is approaching the same disturbance from a different point in time.
The story moves between distinct settings and characters before their paths begin to converge. Each brings a different strength, a different code and a different reason to distrust the others.
Characters
Each principal character begins in a world shaped by different dangers, loyalties and expectations.
Kingdom of Litharchonia
A young practitioner of magic whose quiet ride through an ancient forest leads her to a disturbance she cannot explain. Careful and observant, she tests what she senses before deciding that the elders must be warned.
Victorian London
A skilled thief in his late twenties who reads wealth in a man's clothes as easily as others read a signboard. Quick with his hands and quicker with his judgement, he survives by spotting opportunity before anyone else does.
Atlantic Ocean
The feared captain of Azure Serpent, a former privateer turned pirate ship. Theron rules through fear and the promise of plunder. Ruthless and treacherous, he nevertheless holds one principle above loot: loyalty once earned is not lightly betrayed.
Future Las Vegas
A battle-hardened survivor raised amid endless urban warfare. Her scarred carbon fibre armour, plasma sword and old ballistic weapons are tools of survival in a city where every doorway and window may conceal the next threat.
Feudal Japan
A disciplined samurai who strictly adheres to bushido. His prized katana, made by the renowned swordsmith Izuminokami Kanesada, is believed capable of striking enemies beyond the ordinary world.
Across Time
A powerful sorceress who has learned to bend time to her will. As timelines fracture and realities collide, Aurelia remains at the centre of the growing chaos, but the reasons behind her actions are not what they first appear to be.
Themes
The characters do not enter the story with the same moral compass. Their differences are part of the danger. Knowledge, opportunity, loyalty, survival and honour can unite them, but those same values can also divide them.
The story explores what remains constant when place, culture and history no longer provide familiar rules.
The Shadows of Aurelia underwent a major rewrite with expanded character development, a more deliberate narrative structure and a deeper focus on the five central lives before their paths converge.
